For the second consecutive time, students from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) emerged as the champions of the Southern Zone in the 5th edition of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC). The competition, which commenced on 24th July 2023, witnessed participation from 12 schools all vying for victory and the chance to advance to the national quarterfinals.
In their relentless pursuit of the national TBSC championship, UGBS's journey commenced on 25, July, 2023, at the LBC auditorium at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA). In the initial stage, the UGBS team faced off against Takoradi Technical University (TTU) and triumphed with a score of 52 points, surpassing TTU's 29 points. This victory propelled them to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals took place on 27th July 2023, with the UGBS team competing against Ghana Communication and Technology University (GCTU). With an impressive score of 51 points, the UGBS team emerged as winners, outshining GCTU's 21 points.
The final showdown of the Zonal Competition witnessed a battle between three schools: UGBS, Academic City, and Pentecost University. Following an intense contest, UGBS emerged with 41 points, while Academic City and Pentecost University secured 35 and 22 points respectively. With a remarkable performance, the UGBS team conquered the challenge and successfully retained their title as the zonal champions, signifying the culmination of the southern zonal competition.
The team from UGBS comprises of 4 main contestants namely Michael Mensah, Edwin Entsiey, Peter Emeka Ike and Caleb Okyere, and 3 supporting contestants namely Kelly Komeh, Gifty Dedaah Kumah and Florence Kudadze. The team was coached and prepared by Dan Owusu Amponsah, Boakye Dankwah, Angelo Akuoko and Amongya Kennedy Apaayire who displayed selfless, commitment and availability towards the team.
UGBS extends hearty congratulations to the entire team for maintaining their dominance, underscoring their continued excellence, and raising the UGBS banner high once again.
