Department of Public Administration

The Department of Public Administration at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) is at the forefront of teaching, research, and policy engagement in public administration, governance, public policy, development policy and sustainable development. The Department offers undergraduate, and graduate programmes that equip students with the knowledge, leadership skills, and analytical competencies needed to address contemporary governance and development challenges.
The Department is committed to advancing effective governance through high quality teaching, policy relevant research, consultancy, and community engagement. Faculty undertake research in areas including public policy, public sector management, decentralisation, local governance, leadership, sustainable development, digital governance, climate governance, and institutional reform, while collaborating with governments, development partners, civil society, and international organisations.
Graduates are prepared for careers in public, private, non-governmental, and international organisations as administrators, policy analysts, managers, researchers, consultants, and development practitioners. Through research led teaching, practical learning, and strategic partnerships, the Department seeks to develop ethical, innovative, and competent leaders who contribute to effective governance and sustainable development in Ghana, Africa, and beyond.
