Patience Aseweh Abor
Patience Aseweh Abor is a Professor of Health Policy and Management at the University of Ghana Business School. She is also the first female professor at the University of Ghana Business School. She has held Visiting Professor positions at the Chester Business School, University of Chester, UK and the School of Management, The University at Buffalo, USA. She holds a PhD in Management from the Southampton Business School, University of Southampton, UK and MTech in Environmental Health from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa. She also holds MPhil in Health Services Management and BSc Nursing from the University of Ghana and is a trained State Registered Nurse. She has considerable teaching and research experience in leadership, governance, health policy and management. She is a researcher with the African Economic Research Consortium, and her research interests include healthcare governance, leadership and management, health policy, health services management, universal health coverage, and socio-economic effects on health outcomes. Her papers have appeared in reputable international journals such as Journal of International Migration and Integration, International Journal of Health Care Quality Assurance, Leadership in Health Services Journal, Management Research Review, Journal of Health Organization and Management, International Journal of Social Economics, International Journal of Business Governance and Ethics, and Journal of Medical Marketing. She is a member of the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE). She also serves on the board of GNPC Foundation and chairs the Corporate Governance, Brands and Media Committee of the Board. She is currently the Patron of University of Ghana students on the Mastercard Foundation and CAMFED-Ghana scholars’ programme. She is the Founder and Director of ExGlo Foundation, a charity organization focused on basic education and healthcare in deprived communities of the poorest regions in Ghana. She is also a Director and Senior Consultant with the Corporate Support Group Ltd (a management, financial and economic consulting firm) and has consulted for some international and local institutions, including, the World Health Organization, International Finance Corporation, African Development Bank (AfDB), Ghana Oil and Gas for Inclusive Growth, Ghana Ports and Habours Authority, Trust Group of Companies, Quality Life Assurance Company Ltd.
