Kwame Asamoah
Kwame Asamoah is Professor of Public Administration in the Department of Public Administration, University of Ghana Business School. He is an astute international scholar, researcher, consultant, and administrator with extensive knowledge in public administration, public policy, good governance, strategic management, performance management, human resources management, project management, negotiation, productivity enhancement, innovation and reform in administration and leadership development.
Prof. Asamoah obtained a PhD in Public Administration from Jackson State University, United States of America (2010). He also earned a Master of Public Administration degree (1997) from the University of Ghana Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (1992) with a second-class upper division from the University of Ghana. He served for two terms as Head of Department of Public Administration, University of Ghana Business School. He has served on various academic committees and boards in the University of Ghana such as Examinations Superintending Committee, Joint Examiners’ Board, College Academic Board and University Academic Board.
Prof. Asamoah was the Chairman of the Governing Board of Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) from November 2019 to January 6, 2025. He was also once a member of the Governing Council of University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho. He has been a regular selection panel member constituted by the Public Services Commission to interview applicants for senior level positions in the Public Services of Ghana. He has also served as an assessor for Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to conduct academic audit for several universities and colleges in Ghana.
Prof. Asamoah has an extraordinary passion for teaching and research. He has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses at the University of Ghana Business School, Legon. He has taught courses in Public Policy Analyss, Applied Public Policy Analysis, Public Sector Human Resource Management, Issues in Public Administration, Change Management, Project Management, Development Administration, Public Budgeting and Policy Process. His commitment to mentoring students is unparalleled and for that reason, he has played a prominent role in mentoring his students. Most of these mentees are pursuing PhDs in North America and Europe. Prof Asamoah has supervised numerous graduate long essays and theses. He has also served as an external examiner for several universities in Ghana and abroad. He has numerous publications to his credit which are relevant to the efficient running of public administration. Prof. Asamoah has published in reputable journals such as Policy Studies Journal, Politics & Policy Journal, Journal of Asian and African Studies, Journal of Public Money & Management, International Journal of Public Administration and Journal of Public Affairs. Prof. Asamoah has attended several local and international conferences.
Prof. Asamoah has a huge passion for the work of God. He served as the Chairman of the Methodist Men’s Fellowship, Airport East Circuit in the North Accra Diocese.
